No. 18 Mount Olive sweeps NGU at home, 7-0

MOUNT OLIVE (April 6) – In a Conference Carolinas action on Saturday morning, the No. 18 ranked Trojans rolled past North Greenville by a 7-0 margin while playing at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center.

With the win, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program improves to 11-2 overall with a 3-1 record in league play. It marks a six-straight victory for UMO over the Crusaders dating back to 2017 while continuing to sit among the top five in the conference standings. Meanwhile, North Greenville falls to 3-10 this season behind a 1-3 mark in league action.

Mount Olive posted a three-match sweep in the doubles session to clinch the opening point of the contest. Senior Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira and freshman Kristoffer Dalbak produced a 6-4 win over Juan Arbelaez and Christo Timini in the first doubles. In the second position, sophomore Niklas Gruenefeldt and senior Adam Ibrahim posted a 6-2 victory against Anthony Cassini and Will Hernandez while freshman Lenn Hoffmann and sophomore Bram Poel registered a 6-1 win versus Gabriel Pegoraro and Joao Silva in the third slot.

The Trojans delivered a dominant performance in singles action after winning all six matches to seal a 7-0 win. In the first singles, de Oliveira recorded a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Timini before Gruenefeldt rallied to a 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) victory against Silva in the second slot. In the third position, Dalbak won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 versus Pegoraro while Poel battled to a 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (10-5) victory over Hernandez in the fourth singles. Sophomore Kabir Chhabria rallied to a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win against Arbelaez in the fifth slot before Ibrahim sealed an 8-4 victory in the sixth position over Cassini.

The Trojans will return to action on Wednesday, April 10, when they travel to face Coastal Carolina, starting at 2 p.m.
