MOUNT OLIVE (April 13) – Playing back-to-back league games this weekend, the University of Mount Olive women's tennis program suffered a 6-1 loss versus Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Trojans drop to 7-9 this season behind a 4-3 mark in Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae has won two of the previous three meetings in the series, as UMO will close the regular season next weekend on the road. Meanwhile, the Bobcats improve to 11-4 overall with a 5-1 record in league action.
In the doubles session, the Bobcats captured all three matches to build an early 1-0 advantage. Senior

Simone Szovan dropped a 4-6 decision to Pati Vedia Sanchez and Anita Ivanova in the first slot, while the freshmen duo of
Victoria Calle and
Valeria Guerrero battled in a 5-7 loss to Rhidaim Yang and Begum Gumussoy in the second doubles. Freshman
Lara Stamereilers and sophomore
Alina Esser fell by a 4-6 margin to Lina Ngassi Saqout and Miranda Noor in the third position.
Lees-McRae secured a 6-1 victory after winning five of the six singles matches on Saturday. In the first singles, Stamereilers captured a 6-1, 6-1 win over Vedia Sanchez, while Guerrero suffered a 0-6, 1-6 loss to Yang in the second spot. In the third position, Calle fell by a 2-6, 2-6 margin to Noor before Svozan dropped a 3-6, 2-6 decision to Ivanona in the fourth singles. Freshman
Sara Gajbhiye battled in a three-set loss to Ngassi Saqout by a score of 7-5 (7-3), 5-7, 2-6 in the fifth slot, while sophomore
Alina Esser suffered a 2-6, 0-6 loss versus Gumussoy in the sixth singles.
The Trojans return to Conference Carolinas action on Friday, April 19, to face Converse on the road at 1 p.m.
