UMO defeats Limestone on the road, 7-0

Trojans sweep doubles and singles play; UMO wins in straight sets in five of six singles matches

GAFFNEY, S.C. (Feb. 17) – Playing for a consecutive day in Southeast regional play, the University of Mount Olive produced an impressive 7-0 win at Limestone in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Trojans collect their third consecutive win to improve to 3-1 overall with a 2-0 mark on the road. The two sides met for the first time since 2019 with Limestone holding a 3-2 edge in the series dating back to 2017. Meanwhile, the Saints fall to 1-3 this season while boasting a 1-1 mark against Conference Carolinas opponents.

Mount Olive captured the doubles point after sweeping all three matches on Saturday afternoon. Senior Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira and freshman Kristoffer Dalbak delivered a 6-2 win over Andre Zamorano and Andres Cortes in the first position. Sophomore Niklas Gruenefeldt and senior Adam Ibrahim competed in second doubles and registered a 6-4 victory versus Come De Lorgeril and Giovane Calou. In the third slot, freshman Lenn Hoffmann and sophomore Bram Poel produced a 7-6 (7-0) win against Thomas Jouanneau and Barthelemy Bourdon.

The Trojans sealed the 7-0 win over the Saints after claiming all six singles matches. In the first singles, de Oliveira produced a 6-4,4-6, 6-0 victory over Zamorano before Gruenefeldt followed with a 7-5, 7-5 win against Ramiro Rincon Hernandez in the second position. Dalbak won in straight sets in the third slot by a score of 7-5, 6-4 while facing Louca Bertone. In the fourth singles, Poel earned a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Bourdon before sophomore Kabir Chhabira captured a 6-4, 6-2 win versus Rodolfo Villavicencio in the fifth position. Ibrahim collected an 8-6 victory in the sixth singles against Cortes to complete the sweep.

Mount Olive returns to non-conference play on Saturday, Feb. 24, when they travel to Coker, starting at 1 p.m.
