WILSON, N.C. (Oct. 19) – Facing the reigning Atlantic Region Champions, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program suffered a 5-2 loss against Charleston on Saturday in non-conference play.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 0-1 in dual matches this season after competing in a pair of individual events. Mount Olive has faced off against the Golden Eagles in a fall match over the previous three seasons. Meanwhile, Charleston improves to 3-0 overall with a pair of wins over Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponents.
In doubles play, the Golden Eagles captured the point after winning two of the three matches. At the first position, juniors

Niklas Gruenefeldt fell by a 7-5 margin to Jorge Perez Diaz and Marcelo Mifano Pinto. Sophomore

Philip Peter Carstensen battled in a 7-5 loss to Alberto Nordio and Mils Potterbeck in the second slot. At third doubles, junior

Hampus Hagglund delivered a 6-3 victory against Vicente Garcia and Jules Alias.
Charleston won four of the six singles matches to earn the dual match victory on Saturday. Dalbak competed in the first position and dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Perez Diaz. In the second singles, Poel won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 versus Garcia before Gruenefeldt battled to a 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 victory over Alias in the third slot. Hagglund fell by a 6-0, 6-3 margin to Mifano Pinto in the fourth position, while Carstensen suffered a narrow 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 loss to Nordio in the fifth singles. In the sixth slot, freshman
Hiroma Nishikata dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Melvin Vix.
