WILSON, N.C. (Oct. 19) – Facing the reigning Atlantic Region Champions, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program suffered a 5-2 loss against Charleston on Saturday in non-conference play.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 0-1 in dual matches this season after competing in a pair of individual events. Mount Olive has faced off against the Golden Eagles in a fall match over the previous three seasons. Meanwhile, Charleston improves to 3-0 overall with a pair of wins over Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponents.

Charleston won four of the six singles matches to earn the dual match victory on Saturday. Dalbak competed in the first position and dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Perez Diaz. In the second singles, Poel won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 versus Garcia before Gruenefeldt battled to a 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 victory over Alias in the third slot. Hagglund fell by a 6-0, 6-3 margin to Mifano Pinto in the fourth position, while Carstensen suffered a narrow 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 loss to Nordio in the fifth singles. In the sixth slot, freshman
Hiroma Nishikata dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Melvin Vix.
