COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 3) – Senior
Mora Smith secured a win in the triple jump, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field team recorded several all-time marks at the South Carolina Invitational on Friday.
Smith registered a personal record of 11.55 meters (37-10.75 feet) to defeat a field of 15 competitors with several Division jumpers. Her mark sits third all-time in program history and ranks second in the Conference Carolinas this indoor season.
Additionally, sophomore
Karla Hormazabal finished third overall in the triple jump with a distance of 11.49 meters (37-8.50 feet) to establish a new personal best. She advances into the top three in the league and ranks third at UMO all-time in the event.
Senior
Jaiden Moody improved her conference qualifying mark in the 400 meters after crossing the line in 58.24 seconds, which is the third fastest time in program history. Her time currently ranks as the best mark in the Conference Carolinas this year.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman
Channie Jefferson hit the league standard in the event for the first time this season. She posted a time of 9.50 in a qualifying field of nearly 40 runners with her mark entering UMO history as seventh all-time.
The Trojans return to the South Carolina Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 4, with events kicking off at 10 a.m.
