Trojans rank No. 6 in latest regional rankings

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 8) – The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball program was ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region when the NCAA Volleyball Committee unveiled the first ranked list on Wednesday.

The NCAA regional rankings determine the participants for the NCAA Tournament. The Southeast Region consists of the Conference Carolinas (CC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).

All three conference tournament champions receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament with the next five highest-ranked teams in the final regional rankings receiving at-large bids. Updated regional rankings will be released every Wednesday until the conclusion of the season. The official release of the 64-team field for the 2023 NCAA Tournament will be announced on NCAA.com.

Lander was the top-ranked team in the poll with a 26-3 overall record while boasting the No. 1 RPI in the region and a 13-1 in-region non-conference mark. Wingate, the reigning Southeast Regional Champions, were slotted second with a 22-2 record, while Augusta (23-4) was position third in the rankings with the second-best RPI in the region. Anderson (23-4) was selected fourth and USC Aiken (15-9) rounded out the top five in the rankings.

The Trojans features the seventh-best RPI in the Southeast and a 20-8 record against in-region opponents. UMO has faced six of the regionally ranked teams and claimed the No. 1 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
