LEXINGTON, Va. (Jan. 28) – On the second day in Virginia, the Trojans featured three new conference qualifying marks while competing at the VMI Winter Classic on Saturday.
In the 200 meters, freshman
Chianel Asoburuenwu crossed the line with a personal record of 25.68 seconds to reach the conference standard for the first time this year. She currently ranks third in the Conference Carolinas in the event and now holds the sixth-best time in program history. Senior
Jaiden Moody improved her league qualifying time with a time of 25.73 to sit seventh in the conference. Fellow senior
Jaylin Reeves led all runners and placed seventh overall in the field behind a time of 25.25.
Sophomore
Karla Hormazabal reached the league standard in the long jump with a personal record of 5.09 meters (16-8.50 feet). She ranks just outside the top 10 in the conference and joins four other UMO athletes who have achieved the league mark.
In the shot put, sophomore
Adrienne Crawford attained the conference qualifying distance with a personal record of 11.44 meters (37-6.50 feet).
Mount Olive returns to action Feb. 3-4 in Columbia, South Carolina, to compete at the South Carolina Invitational.
