Box Score 2 Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive baseball team split the final two games of the series to Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas action Saturday at Scarborough Field. UMO moves to 19-13, 10-8.
GAME ONE INFORMATION
The opening game had Mount Olive take the early 2-0 lead after the second, scoring single runs in each of the first two innings. Belmont Abbey clawed back in the fourth plating four runs to gain the 4-2 lead.
A Jalen Jenkins home run, his first of his career, in the fourth tied the game at four. Jack Casbarro followed suit and gave UMO the lead with back-to-back home runs and the Trojans led 5-4 after the fourth.
BAC countered and scored two runs in the fifth to regain the lead at 6-5. After UMO tied the contest in the fifth, a wild pitch scored the go ahead run and the Trojans were able to hold the lead and take game one.
TROJAN LEADERS
Jenkins led the Trojans with two RBI. Justin Koehler (4-2) earned the win in relief completing the final three innings with six strikeouts.
GAME TWO INFORMATION
The second game had a different vibe as the Crusaders took a 3-0 lead after the fourth. Mount Olive scored a solo run in the fifth and outscored BAC 4-to-3in the seventh and eighth, but still trailed 6-5.
BAC added one more run in the ninth and sealed the win in the bottom half
TROJAN LEADERS
Casbarro led the Trojans with two RBI. Seth Nightingale (1-1) was pinned with the loss going five complete allowing three runs, two earned, with seven strikeouts.
ON DECK
The Trojans will host Catawba College on April 6 at 4 p.m. at Scarborough Field.
