MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina. - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Lions of Emmanuel College 3-0 in conference action on Friday. This win takes the Trojans to 12-4 overall and 9-2 in conference. 

GAME INFORMATION

The first set saw an early 7-3 Lions lead. The Trojans took a three-point run to come within one of Emmanuel 8-7. Another three-point Trojan run gave them the 10-9 lead with a kill from Dominic Hagerty. The two Conference Carolinas teams were back and forth until UMO took a five-point run to win set one 25-18.

The second set saw an early 6-3 Mount Olive lead. Later, the unstoppable Trojan offense took a 16-11 lead with a kill from Luke Visgitis. Mount Olive stayed in control for the remainder of the set as they took set two 25-17. 

Emmanuel opened set three with momentum taking an early 9-6 lead. The Lions did not stop there as they extended their lead to 14-10 with a dominating offense. A critical five-point Trojan run gave UMO the 21-20 lead. The two teams went point-for-point until UMO closed out set three and the match 25-23.  

Mount Olive Leaders

The Trojans were led by Luke Visgitis with nine kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 36 assists.

Lions Leaders

The Lions were led by Gustavo Cavalcanti with 17 kills.
