Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive baseball team fell to Belmont Abbey College 8-7 Friday night at Scarborough Field. UMO moves to 18-12, 9-7 while BAC moves to 21-12, 12-6.
GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive was shellshocked from the first inning as Belmont Abbey started the contest with a first pitch home run to left.
UMO recovered and took their only lead in the third on a sacrifice fly from jack Casbarro and an RBI-single from Alden Cottle. The Trojans held a 4-1 advantage until the seventh when the Crusaders took a 5-4 lead. After a three spot in the seventh BAC added three more in the eighth to take their largest lead at 8-4.
Mount Olive made a charge in the final frame but came up one run short and dropped game one of the series 8-7.
TROJAN LEADERS
Cottle led UMO with two RBI off his 3-for-5 day at the plate. Caleb Irwin (3-3) was pinned with the loss in relief.

The Trojans finish the three-game series against Belmont Abbey Saturday at noon at Scarborough Field.
