Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive baseball team took a three-game series win over Erskine College in Conference Carolinas action this weekend at Scarborough Field. UMO moves to 11-5, 5-1 overall, while Erskine College falls to 10-10, 3-6.

SERIES INFORMATION
The opening game of the series was all Erskine as UMO only held the lead once in the second inning when the Trojans led 2-1. The Flying Fleet responded with a four-run third inning to jump back in front 5-2 and never relinquished the lead taking the game 8-4

Mount Olive swept the doubleheader on Saturday holding on to take game one 5-4. UMO scored all of their runs in each of the first three innings; plating single runs in the 1st and second and three in the third. Erskine made a threat for the lead cashing in four runs in the fifth, but UMO was able to silence the bats once again and took game two of the series.

The series finale was all UMO as the Trojans took the lead in the third, but saw the lead slip in the fourth when EC made it 2-1. That was the only time Erskine led as Mount Olive belted across five runs in the fifth to secure the lead and ultimately win 7-3.

TROJAN LEADERS
Vito Patierno and Cooper George led the team with three RBI each for the series. Caleb Irwin (2-0) and Erik Johnson both picked up their second win of the season. Justin Koehler and Jaydon Gartner also both recorded their first saves of the season.

ON DECK
The Mount Olive Trojans will hit the road for another midweek game against Newberry College on March 9. First pitch Wednesday is set for 5 o.m.
