MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina. - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell to the Crusaders of North Greenville University 3-2 in conference action on Saturday. This loss takes the Trojans to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in conference.
GAME INFORMATION
The first set saw an early 6-3 Crusaders lead. UMO rallied back to stay within four of North Greenville 15-11. The Crusaders stayed in control for the majority of the first set. UMO took a crucial three-point run in the back half of the first set, but not before the Crusaders too set one 25-19.
The second set saw a competitive point exchange between the two Conference Carolinas teams. The set was tied at 6 all until Mount Olive took the lead 7-6 with a kill from Tyran Gillespie. NGU found their momentum after countless lead changes to take the two-point lead 16-14. UMO found their rhythm to tie the contest at 21 with a kill from Luke Visgitis. UMO remained in control as they took set two 25-23.
After three early lead changes, UMO tied the contest at 7 all with a kill from Tyran Gillespie. The Trojans let the Crusaders take a short run to fall farther behind 17-14. Mount Olive found their rhythm and went on a three-point run to tie the set at 17. UMO was too far behind to recover and fell in the third set 25-21.
An early exchange of points left the two teams tied at four with back-to-back kills from Trojan Tyran Gillespie. The dominating Mount Olive offense increased their lead to two 12-10. NGU found their momentum and took a four-point run to earn a 16-11 lead. UMO took a three-point run 22-21. The Trojans found a late gear and took set four 26-24.
The fifth set started out in favor of the Trojans with a 7-4 lead. NGU rallied back to tie the final set at 8. The two Conference Carolinas teams were back and forth until NGU took the final set and the match 16-14.

The Trojans were led by Tyran Gillespie with 16 kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 49 assists.
Crusaders Leaders
The Crusaders were led by Sergio Carrillo with 62 assists.
