Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

UMO Men's Volleyball Defeats Emmanuel 3-0

FRANKLIN SPRINGS,  GA. - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Lions of Emmanuel College 3-0 in conference action on Saturday. This win takes the Trojans to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference. 

GAME INFORMATION
The first set saw an early Trojan lead 3-1. The dominating UMO offense extended their lead to 7-2 with a four-point run. The Lions found some momentum to take a two-point run but not before UMO extended their lead to 12-7. Emmanuel came within one of Mount Olive 16-15. UMO found their rhythm and saw three straight points to increase the lead to 22-17. The Trojans did not allow the Lions to take another run as UMO took set one 25-20. 

The second set saw another Trojan run as they earned a 6-3 lead over the Lions. Emmanuel came within one of the Trojans 6-5 but not before Mount Olive took a four-point run to earn a five-point lead 10-5. The Trojans never backed down as they took a six-point run to increase their lead to 19-12. UMO closed out set two with a 25-16 win. 

A 4-1 Trojan lead opened up set three until Emmanuel took the lead 6-5. UMO dominated on the offensive said as they has four straight kills to take back the lead 11-8. A four-point Lions run cut the Trojan lead to 22-18 but not before Mount Olive closed out set three and the match 25-20. 

Mount Olive Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tyran Gillespie with 11 kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 29 assists.

Lions Leaders
The Lions were led by Gustavo Cavalcanti with 12 kills and two aces.

Up Next
The Trojans will return to Kornegay Arena as they take on Belmont Abbey College on March 25th at 7:00PM.
