Bristol, Tenn. - The University of Mount Olive baseball team defeated King University 12-8 in the series-finale Sunday in Bristol, Tenn. UMO moves to 17-8, 9-3 while King moves to 11-10, 8-6.
GAME INFORMATION
Two base hits in the second got the Tornado rolling, allowing them to take a 2-0 lead. Mount Olive found a response in the fifth, using two singles and a sacrifice fly to take the lead 3-2.
Alden Cottle extended the lead with a two-run shot in the sixth.
The closest King came in the game was in the seventh, when KU made the deficit 6-4.
Both squads matched eachother with four runs in the eighth but UMo held onto the lead and the win taking the finale 12-8.
TROJAN LEADERS
Cottle and David Cucci led the team with three RBI each. Blake Gipson (2-0) earned the win in relief pitching three innings striking out three.
