MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The Trojans of the University of Mount Olive's men's lacrosse team faced off in their first conference game and won 17-2, against the Lions of Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The Trojans first two quarters started off strong as UMO was able to get seven straight goals off the Lions. Jared Weiss from Emmanuel scored in the second quarter of the game with three minutes left but
Aidan Lalonde was able to finish the first half with two back-to-back goals. UMO finished the half in the lead 9-1. The highest goal scorers of the half were
Blake Tallon with two goals and Lalonde with four goals.
The second half of the game started off with a Lions goal by Travis Brave Heart. Although, the Lions would not see the score board for the rest of the game as the Trojans efforts were overwhelming. UMO worked all around the field as they were able to get multiple goal scorers on the board. The Trojans worked effortlessly and came out with a 17-2 win, pushing UMO 1-0 in conference play.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game was when UMO held Emmanuel scoreless for 25 minuets of the second half of the game.
TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojans were led by
Aidan Lalonde with five goals and one assist.
Jake Mackenzie led the team with five groundballs.
LION LEADERS
The Lions were led by Weiss and Brave Heart collecting one goal each.
