GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania – The Trojans of the University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team traveled to play the Griffins of Seton Hill University on Monday morning. The Trojans lost 10-9 in non-conference action. The matchup between both teams were challenging as both teams are ranked top three in their respected DII Regions.
INSIDE THE SCORE
UMO started the game strong as a caused turnover by
Jack Brown led to a goal by
Lucas Shein two minutes into the contest. After Shein's goal, SHU scored three goals. With 2:45 left in the first quarter,
Jake Mackenzie scored a goal bringing the score to 3-2. With 42 seconds left in the quarter, the Griffins scored closing to quarter 4-2 with Seton Hill in the lead.
At the start of the second quarter, McGarity Harper scored his second goal of the game. The Trojans had enough and saw three goals from
Blake Tallon,
Chaz Goodman, Mackenzie. The Trojans leveled the score at 5-5 going into the second half of the game.
At the start of third quarter, the Griffins started off with a goal from David St. Clair. The Trojans saw two goals from Goodman and
Braydon Hickey bringing the score in favor of the Trojans 7-6. The quarter ended with a goal from the Griffins tying the game 7-7.
In the last 15 minutes of the contest, Seton Hill was able to score three goals in a row. The score stood 10-7 in favor of SHU. Mount Olive was not done, and Goodman saw the back of the cage bringing the score 8-10. The Trojans made a valiant defensive effort and forced a turnover on the Griffins. Chapman Parker in a goal bringing the score 10-9 with 2:18 left in the match. The period ended and the score stood at 10-9. The Trojans just fell one goal short.
