MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team defeated the Patriots of Francis Marion University 95-83 on Monday. This win takes the Trojans to 15-12 overall. The win advances the Trojans to the Quarter Finals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The Patriots took an early 5-0 lead over the Trojans to open the first half. A Trojan three-pointer cut the Patriots lead to two 11-9 with 15:00 remaining. UMO tied the contest at 13 with 13:01 remaining. The Trojans held onto their momentum as took the five-point lead 24-19. The two Conference Carolinas teams exchanged points until Francis Marion took a four-point lead 31-27 with 6:10 remaining. The Patriots remained in control closing out the first half with a nine-point lead 46-37.
UMO opened up the second half with a three point basket from Alan Treakle 46-40. The Trojans gained their momentum as they took the lead 50-49 with 16:14 remaining. UMO then took an aggressive eight-point lead with 11:20 remaining. UMO extended their lead to nine with a layup from Micheal Brown with 2:40 remaining. The Patriots could not find an answer for the Trojans as the Mount Olive lead increased to 13 91-78. UMO remained in control and took the 12-point victory 95-83 to advance to the quarter finals.

Darius Spragley led the Trojans with 22 points, while Alan Treakle had 16 points.

The Patriots were led by Nick Silva with 26 points.
