MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The No. 17 University of Mount Olive dropped their season-opener to Embry-Riddle University 14-12 on Saturday morning at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
GAME INFORMATION
The Trojans saw the Eagles of Embry-Riddle take the early momentum swing scoring the first goal within 39 seconds of the opening draw as Murphy McDonough scored for EMU.
Meaghan Michaud responded for Mount Olive tying the game with 13:16.
Ali Davis gave UMO their only lead of the contest with 9:56 left in the first quarter, scoring unassisted. The Eagles spouted off two unanswered goals and regained the lead 3-2. Following a
Zoe Dougherty score to tie the contest again, Embry-Riddle scored three goals to end the quarter with a 6-3 advantage.
The second quarter remained squared with both sides registering four goals each. Embry-Riddle went into the break with a 10-7 lead.
The third quarter saw much of the same as the two teams traded goals with Trojan goals coming from Davis (13:45| 1:29) and
Morgan Paige (1:07), and UMO still trailed by three.
The final quarter sealed the Trojans' fate as Mount Olive only scored two times and fell 14-12.
KEY STAT
UMO despite only being out-shot 33-29, turned the ball over 19 times in he contest.

"Today was a hard fought game where our little mistakes added up. We have a lot of new faces on the tea, but we are figuring it out. I'm excited to see what we can produce as the season goes on," said Head Coach
