CENTRAL, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team fell to the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University 78-68 Sunday. This loss takes the Trojans to 9-8 overall and 8-5 in Conference.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The Trojans opened up the contest with a 3-0 lead over the Warriors with 19:34 remaining. Southern Wesleyan wasted no time adding to their score as they tied the match at three with 19:07 remaining in the first half. After tying the game twice the Trojans took a two-point lead with a layup from Cole Johnson 11-9. Two minutes in the game went by without either team scoring until Trojan Micheal Brown sank in three free throws putting the Trojans ahead by two. Until the 1:00 mark the Warriors were able to tie the game numerous times but they were unable to take the lead. With 1:00 remaining Southern Wesleyan took a one-point lead over the Trojans 31-30. The two Conference Carolinas teams headed into halftime tied at 33.
The Warriors were the first to see the scoreboard in the second half with a free throw. A UMO three-pointer from Darius Spragley brought the Trojan lead to two with 19:11 to go in the half. Mount Olive held onto the lead until 15:40 remaining when the Warriors took control of the scoreboard. The Trojans fought hard not allowing the Warriors to be more than four points ahead until the 7:00 mark. Southern Wesleyan increased their lead to six and never looked back. The warriors attacked the tired Trojan defense and took the 10-point victory 78-68.

Micheal Brown led the Trojans with 28 points, while Matthias Caver took home 11 points and six rebounds.

The Warriors were led by Hunter Davis with 20 points.
