WILSON, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team fell to the Bulldogs of Barton College 88-82 Wednesday. This loss takes the Trojans to 9-9 overall and 8-6 in Conference.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive took an early five-point lead over Barton with 18:19 remaining. The Bulldogs answered back and took a four-point lead 11-7 with 15:06 remaining. The Trojans tied the game at 15 with a three-pointer from Jeremiah Phifer with 12:36 remaining. Barton took back control of the game as they took a 12 point lead 29-17 with 9:37 remaining. With 1:41 remaining the Trojans pulled back to be within six of the Bulldogs with a three-pointer from Alan Treakle. The Bulldogs then took an eight-point lead to head into the second half 42-34.
UMO took the first two points in the second half with a layup from Matthias Caver 42-36. With 15:26 remaining Alan Treakle sank in a three-pointer that brought the Trojans within two of the Bulldogs. At the 14 minute mark the Bulldog lead was down to one 55-54 as Darius Spragley made a layup. UMO gained their second lead of the contest with 10:38 remaining with a layup from Micheal Brown. Barton carried the momentum for the remainder of the game taking the six point victory 88-82.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Darius Spragley led the Trojans with 26 points, while Matthias Caver took home eight points and four rebounds.
BULLDOG LEADERS
The Bulldogs were led by Donaven Hairston with 25 points.
