TIGERVILLE, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team defeated the Crusaders of North Greenville University 79-54 on Friday. This win takes the Trojans to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Conference.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The Crusaders saw the first five points of the contest opening up the game 5-0 with 9:20 remaining. Mount Olive got their first points with a layup from Sherry Johnson 5-2 with 7:28 remaining. The Trojan defense could not stop the Crusaders as they held onto the momentum for the remainder of the first quarter. The Trojans headed into quarter number two down by two 14-12.
North Greenville opened up quarter number two with a three-pointer to increase their lead to five. UMO answered back quickly earning their first lead of the contest with 7:27 remaining in the second quarter 18-17. Mount Olive increased their lead to eight with 4:09 remaining 28-20. The dominating Trojan offense then took over the second half of the quarter. UMO headed into halftime with a 10 point lead 36-26.
Mount Olive opened up the second half by increasing their lead to 12 with a layup from Azariah Fields. UMO dominated the third quarter pulling away from the Crusaders by 28 points. UMO headed into quarter number four up by 28 65-37.
The North Greenville defense seemed to not be enough to stop the Trojan lead at the start of the fourth quarter as the deficit stood at 33. A three-pointer from Trojan Haleigh Crews increased the lead to 36 74-38 with 5:55 remaining in the contest. The Trojans carried their momentum through the end of the contest as they took the 25 point victory 79-54.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Ivanda Hudjakova led the Trojans with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Sherry Johnson took home six rebounds and 14 points.
CRUSADER LEADERS
The Crusaders were led by Jykya Bell with 17 points.
