Gaffney, South Carolina --  The University of Mount Olive dropped the opener of the 2021 season to the Saints of Limestone University 5-1 on the road in conference play. 

Game Information
Limestone took the early lead scoring in the first five minutes with a score from Kelly Diplock. Five minutes later, the Saints doubled their tally, to take a 2-0 advantage into the second quarter.

The second was very uneventful with Limestone recording the only shot and LU took their two-point lead into the break.

Twelve minutes into the third Mount Olive found an opening in the Saints' defense, as an LU foul gave the Trojans a penalty stroke opportunity. Morgan Paterson made good on the attempt for the first goal of her UMO career and first of the year for Mount Olive.

LU did not allow UMO to outscore them in the quarter, as the Saints increased their lead back to two with under two to play.

The final quater saw Limestone seal the win with two more scores taking the 5-1 victory on their home field.


Trojan Leaders
Alanna Barrett and Victoria Lane both recorded two saves. Morgan Paterson led the Trojans with the only goal of the contest.

Gwendolyn Lewis notched two goals while putting three shots on goal.

Key Moment
Despite the penalty stroke goal from the Trojans in the third Limestone pushed home three more scores, that ultimately put the game out of reach.
