Mount Olive, N.C.- The University of Mount Olive Trojans (4-2, 3-0 CC) defeated King University (2-2-1, 0-2-0) 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The opening half had Mount Olive break open to a 3-0 lead following scores from three different Trojans. Alfie Pope fired the first salvo in the 8th minute. Ethan Willie added the second goal in the 17th minute, and Trevor Berk capped off the scoring in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Pope scored his second of the game and forth of the season in the 50th minute. Mount Olive cooled off a bit, however, they were still able to add one final score off a penalty kick in the 71st minute. The final score put any kind of chance for King in the ground as the Tornado managed just three shots in the second period.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Pope with two goals in the contest.
KEY STAT
Despite the foul count being almost even, Mount Olive held superiority in the shots column 21-to-7.
