Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball goes 0-2 during FMU Invitational

Florence, S.C.--  The University of Mount Olive falls to University of West Florida and Gannon University during the Francis Marion invitational on Friday night. This puts the Trojans 5-3 overall.

1st Set
UMO started off slow in the first set going down 16-2 with a kill from Ashlyn Stone. Two kills from the Amara Eziakonwa, and Makenzie Holzer brought the score to 18-4. UMO tried to fight back late in the match from a kill from Alyssa Jackson, however, it was to late to save the damage and the Trojans fell 25-12.

2nd Set
The Trojans and Argonauts battled until West Florida grabbed seven straight points. After securing a point down 22-14, West Florida took the final three points to win the set 25-14.

3rd Set
UMO came out strong in set number three pulling ahead 7-2 with two aces from Madison Goodman. The Argonauts of West Florida battled and regained the lead 10-9. WF took control of the set with a nine-point run to lead 24-13 and ultimately took the final set 25-14, and the match 3-0.

Gannon University Match
1st Set
 
The Trojans fell from the start trailing 5-2 with kills from Sergent and Jackson. The Golden Knights from Gannon University opened their lead up to 14-8. Mount Olive had no true answer in the opening set as they fell 25-16.

2nd Set
UMO pulled ahead in the second set 3-2. The set was tied five more time after the Trojans lead, before Gannon lead for good 10-8. The Knights used two four-point runs to close out the set 25-13.

3rd Set 
UMO started off slow in the 3rd until Eziakonwa brought the score to 11-7 with a kill. A pair of Trojan kills from Sergent and Stone end a run for Gannon brought the score to 20-15 in favor of the Golden Knights. Not much else was heard from the Trojans as they dropped the final set 25-20, and the match 3-0. 

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Ashlyn Stone led the Trojans with 7 kills. 
Madison Goodman with two aces. 
Jenna Myer led with 15 assist.

ARGONAUTS LEADERS
Stephanie led with 14 assist

GOLDEN KNIGHT LEADERS 
Ashley Beyers lead Gannon University with 28 assist.

The Trojans stay at the Francis Marion Invitational taking on Queens and the University of Charleston on Saturday September 18th.
