Mount Olive, NC - This summer, UMO sophomore pitcher
Garrett McDaniels signed a free agent deal with the Lost Angeles Dodgers organization of Major League Baseball. Mount Olive Tribune Assistant Editor Rudy Coggins spoke with McDaniels about his recent signing.
"I was excited," McDaniels told Coggins, who made the announcement on his Twitter account. "With the Dodgers having the highest success rate with Tommy John rehabs and having some of the best (minor league) affiliate teams in every single league, I knew I was going to be in great hands. I was estatic." McDaniels is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, which he had in April, in Arizona with other members of the Dodger's organization.
McDaniels is the ninth Trojan to be currently signed to a pro contract, and the fourth UMO baseball alum to be signed to a Major League Baseball organization.
