TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The No. 11 University of Mount Olive baseball team fell to Wingate University 19-6 in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday in Tigerville, S.C. The game was originally start Friday night but suspended due to lightening in the 6th.

GAME INFORMATION
In a game that saw a lightening delay in the 6th inning, the game suspended due to that lightning delay, and a resumption of play the following day UMO was able to gain the lead in the bottom of the first.

Wingate had an answer in the top of the second with a solo home run and tied the game at one. They went onto take the 2-1 lead in the third, but it did not last as UMO regained the lead in the bottom half.

Joe Mason belted a three run shot to push Mount Olive a head 4-2. 

That was the final time the Trojans led as Wingate scored 14 runs over the next three innings without allowing a UMO run to go up 16-4. 

Mount Olive was able to push home a few more runs in the final two innings was could not climb the mountain and topple the Bulldogs as they fell 19-6.

TROJAN LEADERS
Joe Mason led the Trojans with a 2-for-5 day and five RBI. Reed Parris (8-3) was pinned with the loss going three and two thirds allowing seven runs, one earned, and struck out four.

WINGATE LEADERS
Hunter Dula collected five RBI to lead the way for the Bulldogs.

KEY MOMENT
The 14-runs that Wingate scored in the middle innings not only opened up the game for them but closed the door on any chance for UMO to comeback.
