Women's Volleyball Falls on the Road Against Converse College

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Women's volleyball concluded it's two game road trip Friday afternoon against Converse College. The Trojans lost the match in three sets.

GAME INFORMATION
Set one began with back and forth action. The Valkyries broke that trend by putting together four points in a row to take a 13-8 lead. The Trojans responded by scoring the next five out of six points, bringing themselves to within one of the lead, 14-13. The two teams then exchanged points, bringing the score to 21-18, Valkyries. Starr Sergent smacked a kill, bringing the score to 21-19. That was the last point of the set for the Trojans, as the Valkyries scored the next four points, taking set one, 25-19.

Set two saw the Valkyries jump out to an 11-6 lead. The Trojans tied the game at twelve a piece, with the twelfth point coming off a kill from Nafsika Papavasileiou. The Valkyries responded by scoring three unanswered points, retaking the lead, 15-12. The Trojans battled back once again to tie the game at seventeen, the tying point coming courtesy of a kill from Alyssa Jackson. The Valkyries responded by scoring the next seven out of nine points, bringing the set to match point, 24-19. Papavasileiou collected a kill to make the score 24-20, but the Valkyries got the next point, taking set two, 25-20. 

Amara Eziakonwa smacked home a kill, giving the Trojans a 6-4 lead early in set three. The Valkyries quickly regrouped to retake the lead, 8-6. The teams exchanged points until the Valkyries extended their lead to five, 16-11. The teams then battled more, until the Trojans strung together three points in a row, bringing themselves to within three of the lead, 20-17. The Valkyries responded by scoring the next five out of seven points to take the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-0.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in set two. With the set tied at seventeen, the Valkyries stood strong. Scoring the next eight out of eleven points, taking set two, 25-20. Going on to sweep the match, 3-0. 

TROJANS LEADERS
Starr Sergent led the Trojans with ten kills. 

VALKYRIES LEADERS
Elizabeth Coffey led the way fro the Valkyries, collecting nine kills. 

UP NEXT
The Trojans return to action next Tuesday, April 6th,  when they travel to Wilson, NC to take on Barton College. Action gets underway at 5 pm.
