WILSON, N.C. - The Trojans traveled down the road to take on Conference Carolinas foe, the Barton Bulldogs. Mount Olive won the match in three sets. Today's contest signaled the end of the regular season for the Trojans.
GAME INFORMATION
Set one began with back and forth action. Neither team led by more than two points until the Trojans gained a three score lead, 18-15, late in set one. The Trojans added two more points, courtesy of a block from
Alyssa Jackson and a service ace from
Jenna Myer, extending their lead to 20-15. The Bulldogs added three more points, but that wasn't enough as the Trojans took set one, 25-18.
The Trojans came out strong in set two, jumping out to a 9-1 lead. The Bulldogs responded by scoring six points in a row, bringing themselves to within two of the lead, 9-7. The teams then exchanged points, bringing the score to twelve a piece. The Trojans scored the next eight out of ten points to take a commanding 20-14 lead. The last two points of the 8-2 run came from two services aces from
Starr Sergent. The Bulldogs never recovered from the Trojans scoring binge, losing set two, 25-17.
Looking to avoid being swept, the Bulldogs put up a good fight to begin set three. The Trojans tied, but never took the lead until they strung together three points to take the lead, 18-16. Barton responded by scoring two times in a row, tying the game at eighteen a piece. The Trojans then scored three points in a row again, to retake the lead, 21-18. After trading blows, the teams found themselves tied at twenty-three points each. A kill by
Ele'sia Williams and block from
Camryn Huber sealed the set three win, 25-23, and the match, 3-0.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in set two. With the scored tied at twelve, the Trojans scored eight out ten points to take a commanding lead. Winning set two, and going on to sweep the match.

Starr Sergent finished with six kills and two service aces.

Kaytlin Elkins finished with thirteen kills.

Women's Volleyball will now prepare for the Conference Carolinas Championship. Pool play begins Saturday, April 10th.
