No. 7 Trojan Baseball Defeats Emmanuel in Series-Opening Doubleheader

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The No. 7 University of Mount Olive baseball cruised past Emmanuel College in Conference Carolinas action at Scarborough Field on Friday afternoon. UMO improves to 22-6 overall 18-4 in conference, while Emmanuel goes to 12-17, 11-15.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
Game one saw little scoring from both sides but Mount Olive struck first in the third. Blake McLean homered to left to open the score line and Gunner Tolston plated another run to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead. 

Single runs were added by UMO in the 4th and 5th as the Trojans lead grew to four.

It was not until the final frame the Emmanuel was able to scratch across a run, however, one was all they managed as the UMO pitching staff closed the door on the 4-1 victory.

TROJAN LEADERS
Vito Patierno led the team's offense with an RBI off two hits. Reed Parris (6-1) earned the win allowing a run off six hits and struck out nine. Will Abbott (S:5) recorded his fifth save of the season coming in for the final third of an inning.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the third when UMO scored twice to open up a small lead that they did not relinquish.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Mount Olive took the winning momentum from game one and put it into game two as Jack Casbarro drove in two runs in the second to put UMO a head first.

The third inning proved to be the turning point as the Trojans opened up the game with five runs in the inning, highlighted by a Casbarro two-run single and UMO led 7-0. 

The Trojans went onto a pair of runs in every inning except the fourth as their advantage exploded to 15-0. Emmanuel picked up a single run in the ninth but the mountain was far too high to climb as the Lions fell 15-1.

TROJAN LEADERS
Jack Casbarro led the team's offense with four RBI. Hunter Stevens (7-0) earned the win going seven complete allowing four hits and struck out nine.

EMMANUEL LEADERS
Lacross collected an RBI to lead the way for the Lions.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the third when UMO unloaded for five runs taking a 7-0 lead and crusing to the win.

ON DECK
Mount Olive will complete the series against Emmanuel College tomorrow at Scarborough Field.
