Women's Volleyball Sweeps Third Consecutive Match Taking Down Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Trojans hit the road for a match against Southern Wesleyan Thursday afternoon. Mount Olive swept the match, winning in three sets.

GAME INFORMATION
Set one began with back and forth action. With the Trojans up 8-7, the Warriors scored three points in a row, retaking the lead,10-8. After exchanging more three-score runs each, the Trojans found themselves ahead, 17-16. The Warriors responded by scoring two points of their own, making the score 18-17, Warriors. Their lead didn't last for long as the Trojans then rattled off three points in a row, capped off with a block from Starr Sergent and Amara Eziakonwa, to retake the lead, 20-18. The Warriors tied the set again at twenty a piece, but that was the last time. The Trojans scored the next five out of seven points to take set one, 25-22. The Trojans came out strong in set two, setting the tone by jumping out to a 9-2 lead. The Warriors cut the deficit down to four, trailing 9-4. That was the closest the Warriors came to tying, or taking the lead in set two. The Trojans responded by scoring the next eight out of ten points, extending their lead to 17-6. The Trojans continued to put the pressure on. Up by twelve, 22-10, the Trojans scored three points in a row to take set two, 25-10, and go up in the match, 2-0. 

Looking to avoid being swept, the Warriors came out strong in set three. Each team exchanging points until the Warriors scored three unanswered points, going up 13-9. The Warriors briefly halted their momentum by committing an attack error, giving the Trojans a point and making the score 13-10. They quickly regrouped and scored the next four points, extending their lead to 17-10. The Trojans responded by scoring four out of the next five, bringing themselves to within four of the lead, 18-14. Down by five, 21-16, the Trojans scored four points in a row. Starting with a kill by Sergent, and ending with a kill from Huber, the Trojans found themselves only down by one, 21-20. The Trojans then took the lead, 23-22. The Warriors retook the lead, and were on match point, 25-24, when the Trojans scored three unanswered points, capped off with a kill from Ele'sia Williams, to take the set 27-25, and the match, 3-0. 

KEY MOMENT
With the Trojans down 17-10 in set three and the chances of completing the sweep looking slim, the Trojans responded by bringing themselves within four of the lead, 18-14. Going on to win set three and complete the sweep.

Camryn Huber finished with 14 kills.
