UMO Trojans Soccer Falls to North Greenville University 6-1

TIGERVILLE, South Carolina – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team saw an early lead deflated by North Greenville University as the Crusaders took down the Trojans 6-1 in Conference Carolinas action Sunday in Tigerville, SC.  

Game Information

The Crusaders came into the contest and grabbed the momentum as Gareth Greene connected with the back of the net at the 12:14 mark with a shot from the box's left side. In just under seven minutes, NGU continued to come in hot as they scored two goals taking the 3-0 lead with 26:00 remaining in the game. UMO's Rio Mellow found Benjamin Dufton-Kelly as he was able to get the Trojans on the scoreboard but still trailed 3-1. It didn't take much longer for the Crusaders to respond as they went on a 3-0 run to take the 6-1 lead to end the first half.

In the second half, UMO had played aggressively as they could only get five chances to score in the first 20 minutes but remained scoreless. The Trojans put up a good fight as the defense did not let the Crusaders score the remainder of the game. Mount Olive had four more chances to score, but the NGU took home the 6-1 win over the Trojans.
