#3 Mount Olive Splits Series Finale With King

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The No. 3 University of Mount Olive baseball team split the series finale with King University falling in game one 3-2 before taking the night cap 9-5 in Conference Carolinas action Sunday afternoon at Scarborough Field. UMO improves to 10-1 overall 7-1 in conference, while King goes to 4-7, 3-5.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
The Trojans started game one trailing as King got to the Trojans in the second on a two-RBI double by Bennett McCann. An errant throw by UMO allowed another run to score and KU went up 3-0. Mount Olive answered in the bottom half with the Trojans first run scoring via a Tornado throwing error. UMO was held scoreless until their final at bats. Jack Casbarro belted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to draw the deficit to one, but the KU pitching staff shut down UMO and took game one 3-2.

TROJAN LEADERS
Casbarro had the only RBi for the Trojans in game one.

KING LEADERS 
McCann had two RBI in game one for the Tornado.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the first game was in the 2nd inning when King took the lead as they never relinquished it. 

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two was an early inning battle as King scored three runs in the opening frame. Mount Olive was able to answer with a single run in the bottom half off a Stephen Baughan RBI-single but UMO trailed 3-1. King added another run in the second to lead 4-1. 

The Trojans once again had an answer in the bottom half as Case Kermode grounded out to score Aaron Hedgepeth. Blake McLean then scored Casbarro with a triple to straight away center. Later in the next at bat McLean scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at four. King ended up regaining the lead in the top of the third on an RBI-single.

Mount Olive did not let the lead stand as they for the final time regained the advantage in the bottom of the third, pushing across two runs to lead 7-5. The Trojans added two more runs for the remainder of the game holding off any rally from King to take the finale 9-5. 

TROJAN LEADERS
McLean led the team with two RBI. Seth Houston (1-0) picked up the win in relief going two and two thirds allowing a run off four hits and struck out one.

KING LEADERS
Truman Roper collected two RBI to lead the way for the King in game two.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the third when UMO regained the lead for the final time and never gave it back.

The Mount Olive Trojans will hit the road to take on Queens University on Wednesday March 10 at 1 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
