Trojan Men's Volleyball Falls To King In Five Set Battle

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell to the Tornado of King University 3-2 Saturday evening inside Kornegay Arena. The Trojans fall to 9-2, 8-2 and King improves to 7-6, 4-4.

GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive took the opening three points but saw the lead fall when the set was tied at seven. The set went onto be tied seven more times before UMO went on a 4-0 run to take a 21-17 lead. The lead held for the Trojans as the took set one 25-21.

King held a slim lead early in the second, 8-4, however UMO pushed the deficit to one at 9-8. Mount Olive never saw the lead or tie in the second as the Tornado increased their lead to six and took the set by double figures 25-15.

The third set was a battle as neither team led by more than two points until King moved out to an 18-15 lead. The Trojans were unable to close the gap and KU took the third as well 25-22 and move out to a 2-1 lead.

The fourth set had once again King out to a slim lead early on, but UMO score four unanswered points to tie the set at 11. The Trojans continued to fight in the set that went back-and-forth and another 4-0 run put UMO in front 19-16. The Trojans lead held this time as they went onto take the fourth 25-20 and force the deciding fifth.

The final set started off with all the momentum towards King as they led 8-3. Mount Olive tied the set twice at 10 and 11, but King took four out of the final five points to take the set win 15-12 and match win 3-2

Mount Olive Leaders
The Trojans were led by Eric Visgitis with 16 kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 34 assists.

King Leaders
The Tornado were led by Joshua Kim with 36 kills.

Key Moment
The key moment of the match came in the final set as UMO was unable to complete the comeback and fell 3-2.
