CHARLOTTE, North Carolina- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell to the Royals of Queens University 3-0 Thursday evening in Charlotte, NC. The Trojans fall to 9-3 and Queens improves to 11-9.
GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive saw an early lead dissipate as Queens led 10-3 in the first. UMO was able to bounce back with a 6-1 run to draw with three at 14-11, but that was as close as the Trojans got as the Royals took the opening set 25-18
The second set was back-and-forth for the first eight points of the set but ultimately had Queens once again hold a lead at 14-10 midway through. Just as they did in the second, UMO brought the lead down to three, but were unable to tie the frame and the Royals expanded their lead to take a 2-0 match lead following the 25-17 set win.
The final set had the two teams square for the first 10 points until QU won two points in a row to gain the lead and they were once again off to the races. Mount Olive for a third straight set was able to draw to within three, but Queens responded with a set and match killing 9-to-2 run catapulting them to a 23-13 lead and eventually the 25-16 set win.
Mount Olive Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azeez with seven kills. Ethan Morales added 25 assists.
Queens Leaders
The Royals were led by Nic Cavallaro with 11 kills.
