Men's Volleyball Wins Five-Set Battle With Lees-McRae

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College 3-2 Friday night. The Trojans improve to 9-1, 8-1 and Lees-McRae falls to 0-9, 0-6.

GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive lost the opening two points but the Trojans fought back to take a 7-3 lead. UMO held onto the lead until LMC used a four-point run to regain the lead at 16-14. The set was tied seven more times before the Trojans ended the set on a 3-0 run to win the set 27-25.

The Trojans took the first three points of set two and held the lead until the Bobcats tied took the lead 9-7. LMC held that lead until the set became tied at 19. The set went beyond 25 and the Bobcats took the set by taking 4-of-5 of the last points to take the second 28-26.

The third set was a battle as it went back-and-forth and was tied 15 times before LMC took the final three points to win the set 25-22 and move a head 2-1.

The fourth set was all UMO as the Trojans opened the frame with the first six points. UMO never trailed and took the final three points to tie the match at two.

The final set started off with all the momentum towards LMC as they led 9-3. Mount Olive battled back as they took 10 of the next 14 points to tie the set at 13. Despite the Bobcats taking the next point the Trojans ended the set on a 4-1 run and won the set 17-15 and the match 3-2.

Mount Olive Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azeez with 25 kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 63 assists.

Lees-McRae Leaders
The Bobcats were led by Michael Marsons with 15 kills.

Key Moment
The key moment of the match came in the final set as UMO was able to retain control of the match and take the 3-2 match victory.
