MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Women's lacrosse returned home on Sunday, hosting Young Harris College. The Trojans defeated the Mountain Lions, 17-7.
GAME INFORMATION
Action got underway with a save by starting goalie,
Ciara Moorman, less than a minute into the game. After initially being turned away, the Mountain Lions struck first. Going up 1-0 early in the first half. The Trojans quickly responded with a goal off the stick of
Kelly Young, bringing the game even, 1-1. The Trojans then scored three more unanswered goals, receiving contributions from
Kiara Burke, Zoe Doughtery, and
Meaghan Michaud to go up 4-1. After a seven minute period of strong defensive play by both teams, the Mountain Lions' Aubrie Valvo found the back of the net, cutting their defecit to two, 4-2. Keeping the pressure on, Burke scored her second of the day, putting the Trojans back up by three, 5-2. Minutes later the Mountain Lions scored two back-to-back goals bringing them within one from the lead, 5-4. With just over two minutes left to go in the first half, Burke struck again, scoring two more goals, giving the Trojans a 7-4 lead heading into halftime.
The Trojans continued the scoring to open up the second half.
Jackie Kaderabek found the back of the net, increasing the Trojans lead to 8-4. Eight seconds later Aubrie Valvo socred her second of the day courtesy of a free position shot, making the score 8-5. After another strong defensive period, the Trojans scored three unanswered goals. Kaderabek scoring her second,

Kaitlyn Coleman scoring their first of the day. Bringing the Trojans lead to 11-5. The Mountain Lions responded a little over a minute later, making the score 11-6. The Trojans then went on a scoring borage, scoring six times in a ten minute period, increasing their lead to 17-6. The Mountain Lions added a goal, but far too late, as the Trojans went on to win, 17-7.Â
