DUE WEST, South Carolina- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Flying Fleet of Erskine College 3-0 Monday afternoon. The Trojans improve to 8-1, 7-1 and Erskine falls to 6-6,3-3.
GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive took the opening two points and opened up to a 13-8 lead. Two points was as close as Erskine could get in the opening set after a four-point run at 19-17. The two squads exchanged points for the next four points before UMO ended the set on a four-point run to win the set 25-19.
The second set followed a similar trait as UMo took the first two points of the set, however, the Trojans exploded to a ten-point advantage early at 17-7 taking control of the set. Mount Olive only allowed five more points in the set as they took set two 25-15.
In the final set Mount Olive took the opening three points on its way to a 13-to-3 run to start the set. The rest of the frame saw the two teams exchange points for the remainder of the set as UMO never allowed Erskine a chance to take the set as they took the final set 25-14 and match 3-0.
Mount Olive Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azeez with 11 kills. Jarrod Ferguson added 33 assists.
Erskine Leaders
The Flying Fleet were led by Jacob Whyte with 12 kills.
Key Moment
The key moment of the match came in the final set as UMO was able to retain control of the match and take the 3-0 match victory.
