Box Score DUE WEST, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team defeated the Flying Fleet of Erskine College 57-34 in Conference Carolinas action in Due West, S.C. UMO improves to 5-3 overall and 5-3 in conference, while Erskine falls to 0-8, 0-7.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive got on the scoreboard first scoring the first points of the contest before Erskine had a response. Both teams kept kept giving up the lead throughout the quarter with six lead changes with the Trojans leading by one 12-11 to end the quarter.
In the second UMO kicked it into gear going on a small six-point run with under eight minutes to play within eight at 18-11. EC responded with a three point basket, but the Trojans continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal as they went on a 14-5 run and led 32-16 to end the quarter.
The second half did not see much of a change in momentum as Mount Olive and Erskine both added nine points each, but the Trojans still remained in the lead 41-25 in the third and final period the Flying Fleet had no comeback in the works as UMO went on a 16-9 run to take home the 57-34 victory.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Ivanda Hudjakova with 18 points , five assist and eight rebounds. Ayonna A Cotten also joined in on the double-digit scoring with 13 points respectively.
ERSKINE LEADERS
The Flying Fleet were led by Megan Jones with nine points.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the second quarter when UMO kicked it into gear going on a small six-point run and continued to keep their momentum going as they went on a 14-5 run to take the 32-16 lead.
