MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Mount Olive Trojans women's lacrosse team dropped their home opener Saturday afternoon to a score of 12-9, against Queens University.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Queens University got the scoring started, finding the back of the net precisely one minute into the game. The Trojans would tie the game at 1 five minutes later off a shot by senior
Jackie Kaderabek. Her first of three on the day. Kaderabek would score her second goal at the sixteen minute mark giving the Trojans a two goal lead, 4-2. Junior
Zoe Dougherty would find the back of the net giving the Trojans a 5-3 lead with eleven minutes left in the half. The Royals would then score three unanswered goals to take the lead, 6-5.
Meaghan Michaud would score with just over three minutes left to go in the first half, tying the game at 6 apiece, that score would hold going into halftime.
The Royals came out of halftime continuing the scoring, three in a row, giving them a 9-6 lead.
Emily Prentice would add a goal, cutting the deficit to two, but that's the closest the Royals would allow for the remainder of the game. The Royals went onto to win the game 12-9 with the last goal of the game coming courtesy of
Peyton Youngblood.

The Trojans were led by
Jackie Kaderabek's three goals. Followed by
Meaghan Michaud adding two goals of her own.
QUEEN LEADERS
The Royals offense came courtesy of Kara Blanchard's five goals. Rachel Perrett finished with three goals as well.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came four minutes into the second half. Sydney Bracken would score, giving the Royals a lead they would never lose for the remainder of the game.
