FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Georgia - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team fell to Emmanuel College 86-55 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive falls to 6-6 overall and 6-6 in the conference, while Emmanuel Improves to 12-3, 10-3.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive started off the game with the first basket but the moment was short lived, as Emmanuel tied the game and took the lead at the 7:35 mark. Close to a minute later, the Lions used a short 9-0 run to expand their lead to double-digits at 16-6. The quarter ended on an 8-2 run by EC and they took a 30-17 lead into the second.
The second quarter was still all Lions as they expanded their lead to as high as 21 twice before heading into halftime up 49-31.
The third frame was still showing a lot of momentum to Emmanuel as the Lions ended the quarter on a 10-1 run to lead by their largest of the game by that point 33, 72-39.
The deficit grew to as large as 36 in the fourth quarter but the lead would not be overcome as the Trojans fell 86-55.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Ayonna Cotten with 13 points. Cristina De La Cruz also had a double-digit scoring night with 11 points.
EMMANUEL LEADERS
The Lions were led by Breanna Locke with 31 points and 8 assists.
