Mount Olive, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive No.10 men's lacrosse team defeated the Royals of Queens University 9-5 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive won the opening faceoff and scored the first two goals of the game at the 9:11 mark by Samuel Skousen and Chaz Goodman. The Royals answered back, but still trailed behind 2-1 with 7:52 remaining in the first quarter. The Trojans went on a 2-1 run to take the lead 4-2 lead as the first quarter drew to a close.
In the second quarter, Alex Alonso won the faceoff for the Royals but the Trojans were able to gain back possession by a violation from Queens. Connor Watson found the back of the net for the Trojans to stay in the lead 5-2 with 14:30 remaining left in the half. Both teams played solid offensively and defensively and neither was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the quarter. UMO took a 5-2 advantage into the break.
The third quarter, started off with UMO's offensive due to a penalty in the second quarter. The Royals were able to find the back of the net twice to pull the score within one, but still trailed 5-4 at the 9:04 mark. The Trojans outscored Queens 3-0 as Braydon Hickey got the scoring started off with 9:12 on the clock. UMO's defense was aggressive the remainder of the quarter and didn't allow one ball to touch the back of the net. The Trojans were ready with two more goals from freshmen Aidan Lalonde to stay in the lead 8-4 at the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, Mount Olive's Tim Collins scored with 7:48 remaining to put the Trojans up by five. The Trojans were able to shut down the Royals defensively not allowing them to score one more. Mount Olive closed the game out and took home the 9-4 win.

The Trojans were led by freshmen Aidan Lalonde with two goals. Mike Marto won 10-16 faceoffs.
QUEENS LEADERS
The Royals had four individual goals by Quinn Tallant, Aj Curtiss, Austin Leonard, and Dylan Boyer.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game was in the third quarter when the Trojans outscored the Royals on a 3-0 run to the lead the reminder of the game.
