BELMONT, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team fell to Belmont Abbey College 72-58 in Conference Carolinas action in game two Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive falls to 6-5 overall and 6-5 in the conference, while Belmont Abbey Improves to 15-2, 11-1.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive started off the game with the first basket and began the contest on a 8-2 run to take the 10-4 lead at the 4:31 mark. The Crusaders were behind for much of the quarter until BAC struck for a 6-3 run to end the first but still trailed behind 13-10.
The second quarter was a scoring outburst for Belmont Abbey as the Trojans were outscored 24-to-9 and trailed 34-22 going into halftime.
The third frame was a Mount Olive found their momentum as the Trojans went on a 19-11 run to help close the deficit by four but still trailed behind 45-41 going into the final quarter.
The deficit grew to as large as 17 in the fourth quarter but the lead would not be overcome as the Trojans fell 72-58.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Ivanda Hudjakova with 25 points. Ayonna Cotten also had a double-digit scoring night with 12 points.
BELMONT ABBEY LEADERS
The Crusaders were led by Allie Drowning with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game was in the second quarter when Belmont Abbey outscored UMO outscored 24-to-9 to take the lead for the remainder of the game.
