MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team defeated the Flying Fleet of Erskine College 63-36 on Saturday. This win takes the Trojans to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in Conference.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The opening quarter stalled offensively as the Trojans were the first on the scoreboard 2-0 with 8:54 left in the 1st quarter. The UMO offense went on a 7-0 run to earn a seven-point lead 7-0 with 6:17 left in the first. The Trojans headed into quarter number two with a 15-point lead 19-4.
The Flying Fleet offense came into the second quarter with authority coming within five of Mount Olive, 23-18. The Trojans went into quarter three with a four point lead 25-21.
In the beginning of the third quarter, the Flying Fleet took the first two points coming within two of the Trojans 25-23. The dominating Trojan offense led for the remainder of the quarter. UMO went into the fourth quarter with an 18-point lead 45-27.
Mount Olive came out strong taking the first two points of quarter four 47-27. The Trojans maintained the lead for the remainder of the contest and took home the 27 point victory 63-36.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Azariah Fields led the Trojans with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Ivanda Hudjakova took home nine rebounds.
FLYING FLEET LEADERS
The Flying Fleet were led by Shanece Mitchell with 14 points.
