BANNER ELK, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team defeated the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College 66-61 on Tuesday. This win takes the Trojans to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in Conference.

INSIDE THE SCORE

UMO took the first lead of the contest with two free throws from Azariah Fields with 9:14 left in the 1st quarter. The UMO offense then went on a 6-0 run to earn a six-point lead over the Bobcats. The Trojans headed into quarter number two with a 10-point lead 23-13.

The Mount Olive offense proceed to expand their advantage to a 14-point lead with 5:20 remaining in the second quarter. The Trojans remained in control for the remainder of the half as they went into halftime with a 12-point lead, 40-28.

The third quarter saw the Trojans with the first four points increasing their lead to 16 with 9:19 remaining in the quarter. The Bobcats came within nine of the Trojans with 0:58 remaining. UMO, however, went into the final quarter with an 11-point lead 59-48.

The Trojans started slowly as they allowed Lees-McRae to decrease the deficit to five with 4:23 left in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats continued their offensive press, as they came within three points (64-61) of the Trojans with 1:14 remaining in the contest. The Trojans did not allow the LMC comeback, as they took a five-point victory over Lees-McRae 66-61.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS

Azariah Fields led the Trojans with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Ivanda Hudjakova took home four rebounds and 13 points.

BOBCATS LEADERS

The Bobcats were led by MaKayla Smith with 16 points.
