Anderson, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team defeated Erskine College 1-0 in double overtime, in Conference Carolinas action, Saturday afternoon in Anderson, N.C. The match was moved from Erskine to Anderson University's field, after poor field conditions.
Game Information
Mount Olive (8-0-2, 5-0-1) and Erskine (0-8-0, 0-6-0) were unable deadlocked in the opening period as neither team was able to register a goal, as nine shots combined went down in the book with four shots heading on frame.
In the second both squads again continued to struggle as Mount Olive out shot the Flying Fleet 8-to-3, but only a shot a piece was on goal. The scoreless regulation meant the two teams were headed to overtime.
The first overtime saw UMO hit four shots with two forcing the Fleet keeper to make a save, however, the golden goal still eluded either side.
As had been much of the contest there was not a lot of pressure on the defensive back line and in the final overtime period it proved to be one shot more to seal the win. The Trojans 4:26 in, found the aforementioned golden goal off the boot of Ashley Kerekes for the win. The goal was the second of the season for the freshman from Lewis Center, Ohio.

Erskine was led by Reagan Gibbs with two shots, one on goal.
Key Stat
Since the game did not see a plethora of goals, the Mount Olive defense did they job not allowing a corner the entire match, winning 14 corners themselves.
