Mount Olive, N.C.-- The University of Mount Olive fell to the Crusaders of North Greenville University 3-0 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday. This loss takes the Trojans to 6-11 overall and 1-6 in conference.
1st Set
UMO started off strong to open up the match taking a 9-4 lead. The two Conference Carolinas teams went point for point with the Trojans holding a 13-9 lead. In the end of set one the Trojans could not answer to the Crusader attack and lost set one 25-22.
2nd Set
UMO started off slow in set number two being down 2-0. A kill from Ashlyn Stone started the Trojan offense at 5-4. The Mount Olive offense in the close of set two, led by Jenna Myer, dominated and took 7 of the last 8 points, but it was not enough to win the set, as they fell 25-23.
3rd Set
Mount Olive and the Crusaders went back and forth 5-5 until the North Greenville offense took a two-point run to lead 7-5. UMO was able to counter and retie the set at seven. A five-point run by North Greenville gave the Crusaders the lead at 17-12. The Trojans did not have an answer as the Crusaders took the third set and the match 25-22.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Alyssa Jackson led the Trojans with 10 kills.
Jenna Myer had 17 assists and Morgan Prots had 14 digs.
CRUSADER LEADERS
Abigail Durham led North Greenville with 22 kills.
