Anderson, S.C. --- The UMO Men's Soccer (9-3-0, 7-0-0) team took down Erskine College (0-10-1, 0-4-1) 5-0 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon in Anderson, S.C. The match was moved from Erskine to Anderson University's field, after poor field conditions.
INSIDE THE SCORE:
The Trojans took the lead in the first five minutes as
Alfie Pope scored an unassisted goal in the 4th minute. UMO went onto add two more scores in the 21st (
Roberto Hernandez) and 33rd (
Amin Ferreira) minutes to extend the Trojan lead to 3-0 heading into the halftime break.
Mount Olive shut down Erskine in the second period allowing only two shots, while extending their lead even further. Pope added his second goal of the match in the 47th minute off a pass from
Kevin Avila to increase the lead to 4-0.
The final score of the game came off the boot of
Francisco Macedo in the 62nd minute and the Trojans cruised past the Flying Fleet 5-0.
Mount Olive Leaders:
Pope led the Trojans with two scores and an assist.
Erskine Leaders:
The Flying Fleet were led by Dennis Cole with two shots for EC.
