Mount Olive, NC: The UMO Men's Soccer team came back from down 2-1 to top North Greenville University 4-2 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon at Amon Field.
INSIDE THE SCORE:
The Trojans (7-3-0, 5-0-0) fell behind midway through the opening period, when North Greenville (4-4-0, 1-3-0) found the back of the net in the 29th minute. The scoreline remained in favor of the Crusaders going into the break, with the shot total leveling at five.
The second half had the Trojans tie the game on defender
Amin Ferreira's first goal of the season in the 51st minute. Less than a minute later NGU regained the lead with a score from Gareth Greene.
Mount Olive's offense then found another gear scoring three goal in a 13 minute span. The goals were all scored by forward
Alfie Pope, securing his first hat trick of the season and second of his career.
The Trojans only allowed two shots the entire second period, out shooting NGU 9-2 on their way to the 4-2 win.
Mount Olive Leaders:
Pope led UMO with three goals and
Ethan Willie assisted in two of the Trojans' goals.
North Greenville Leaders:
The Crusaders were led by Greene with a goal off two shots for NGU.
