Box Score CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - The No. 20 University of Mount Olive baseball team defeated Queens University (NC) in the series finale on the road at Tuckaseegee Dream Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Sunday. UMO improves to 9-1 overall, while Queens falls to 0-10.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive fell behind from the opening frame as Queens struck first with an RBI-single to score the game's first run.
UMO tied the game in the second and stalled on offense until the sixth when Jack Casbarro scored JT Stone to put the Trojans in front 2-1. Stone then boosted Mount Olive in the seventh with a three-run blast and pushed the advantage to four.
Queens only managed one more run in the game on an RBI-single in the seventh and UMO pushed home three more runs in the eighth to secure the 8-2 win and sweep the series 3-0.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Caleb Irwin (2-0) got the win for the Trojans going six complete allowing one earned run off four hits and struck out six. JT Stone led the offense going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
QUEENS LEADERS
The Royals were led by Noah Jones who picked up one of QU's two RBI in the contest.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the sixth when Casbarro scored what would be the tie-breaking run for Mount Olive and propel them to scoring six more runs over the next two innings.
