Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team saw their six-game win streak snapped after falling to the Lions of Emmanuel College 82-56 in Conference Carolinas action in Kornegay Arena Saturday night. UMO falls to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in conference, while Emmanuel improves to 5-4, 3-0.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive fell behind from the start as Emmanuel came out firing to the tune of a 9-0 run before Ivanda Hudjakova hit a three-pointer to stop the bleeding momentarily. The Lions then ended the quarter on a 7-to-2 run to go up 16-5 heading into the second.
The second did not go much better for the Trojans as midway through the quarter EC put together a 12-to-1 run to push out to their largest lead of the game to that point at 37-17. The half came to a close 1:30 later with Mount Olive taking a point off the Emmanuel lead as they trailed 40-21.
The third quarter was not much different as Emmanuel was able to increase their lead to as high as 26, however it was the closest scoring for the Trojans as UMO was outscored 22-to-18.
The final quarter Mount Olive was unable to find the push needed to overtake the massive deficit and the quarter ended on a 10-to-4 run for EC.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Ivanda Hudjakova with 14 points. Jada Bacchus and Hope Toliver assisted in the scoring with eight points each.
EMMANUEL LEADERS
The Lions were led by Breanna Locke with a team-high 20 points and 13 rebounds.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the first quarter when Emmanuel jumped out to a 16-5 lead and Mount Olive was never able to recover.
